DePoly appoints Mary McCarthy as Independent Board Chair as it prepares for its next phase of growth

DePoly is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary McCarthy as Independent Chair of its Board of Directors, marking an important step in the evolution of the company’s governance.

Mary’s appointment comes at an important moment for DePoly. Following the inauguration of our Showcase Plant in Monthey, commissioning is now underway, marking the beginning of our next phase of commercialisation. As we move from industrial demonstration toward commercial scale, we’re strengthening our governance to support that ambition.

A Board built for DePoly’s next chapter

DePoly’s Board brings together independent leadership, governance and executive oversight expertise, industry and investment experience, and the deep company and technology knowledge of its founders.

Mary joins as Independent Chair alongside Jeroen Kelder of Infinity 2 Capital, Alex Stöckl of Founderful, Samantha Anderson, CEO & Co-Founder of DePoly, and Bardiya Valizadeh, CTO & Co-Founder of DePoly.

Together, the Board brings complementary perspectives across governance, science, industrial scale-up, company building and investment capabilities that will be increasingly important as DePoly progresses toward commercial deployment.

From chemistry to industrial scale

Mary is an experienced board director with more than 25 years of experience in the chemicals and materials industry both as company builder and deeptech investor supporting technology companies in scale up and commercialisation.

Having experienced industrial innovation as a scientist, industry leader, entrepreneur and investor, Mary brings a particularly relevant perspective to DePoly at this stage of its journey.

“The past few years have been about proving what our technology can do and building the foundations to take it to industrial scale. With the Showcase Plant now entering commissioning and our first commercial plant taking shape, the next chapter requires us to think differently about how we build and govern DePoly. Mary brings a rare combination of governance expertise, scientific depth, industrial experience and understanding of what it takes to scale innovative companies. We are incredibly pleased to have her joining us as Chair.”

Samantha Anderson, CEO & Co-Founder, DePoly

“DePoly is at an exciting inflection point. The team has developed a robust technology and is now taking the critical steps toward commercial scale. I am excited to come on board now to help DePoly transition from an R&D led organisation to a scaled commercially resilient business.  I look forward to working with Sam, Bardiya, the leadership team and the Board as DePoly builds the foundations for its next stage of growth.”

Mary’s appointment comes as the different elements of DePoly’s scale-up journey increasingly come together: commissioning the Showcase Plant, preparing for the next financing phase, and building the leadership and governance required to support that growth.

With these foundations in place, DePoly is focused on turning its technology into commercial-scale impact and advancing a more circular future for PET and polyester-based materials.

DePoly’s technology recycles unsorted, dirty PET waste into virgin-grade raw materials. Those PET precursors, PTA and MEG, are used by the industry to produce new plastics without the need for fossil fuels, while diverting valuable materials from landfills and incineration.

Ces précurseurs du PET, le PTA et le MEG, sont utilisés par l'industrie pour produire de nouveaux plastiques sans avoir recours aux combustibles fossiles, tout en détournant des matériaux précieux des décharges et de l'incinération.
